PERSONAL DETAILS

DESCRIPTION:

Harvey's most noticeable feature has to be a key aspect of his choice of clothing. He's never without a hoodie that is modeled after some sort of Pokemon, be it a Bulbasaur, a Riolu, a Murkrow, a Skitty, or even a Patrat. He has so many of them that it's a bit of a mystery where he keeps them all. Of course, when he travels he only keeps at most three with him. His most common ones are a Pikachu and a Charmeleon hoodie, but it's not uncommon for him to swap one of them out if they get dirty. He tends to keep them as clean as possible, though. Other than that, he wears simple blue jeans and a pair of purple and orange kicks. It's not against the law to wear mis-matched clothing, you know!

The next thing that stands out about this trainer is his bright green hair. Nobody knows for sure what his natural hair color is, as he keeps his roots relatively covered when he can't touch up on the dye. It's always rather unkempt, as it's naturally wavy, and he rarely trims it. As a result, it seems to be uneven all around. Even his bangs, which fall past his eyes, aren't even. Unfortunately, since he keeps his hair over his eyes in that fashion, nobody knows what his eyes look like, or what color they are. It's surprising that he can even see at all, considering how thick his hair is. Along the right side of his face, he has a section of red and white striped hair that's longer than the rest as well as straight. It's difficult to tell whether it's fake extensions or just crazily dyed hair.

Despite the fact that his eyes are covered, his face has distinct features. A small nose juts out from under his hair, and his skin is a pale brown, almost like sand or some sort of stone, and lacks any sort of life-like quality. He always seemed to be grinning, with the edges of his mouth curled up. It's almost creepy, actually. His bottom lip is always colored purple, but his top lip is always left as-is, which is an interesting look for him, according to most. He's rather short for his age, which causes most to believe he's younger that he truly is. At 5'4" and hardly 100 lbs, he's definitely a small bundle, but a fierce one.

Harvey's voice has a warm quality to it, which causes his laugh to be somewhat infectious. When he speaks, he usually does so in varying tones that might not even be appropriate to the situation, such as a hint of amusement when the situation is dire. The only exception is when his emotions are too much for him, but that's a rare occurrence. In addition, he walks with a bounce in his step (when he's not skipping, hopping, jogging, or running, that is), which gives him an aura that seems to bring a bit of happiness onto the faces of those around him.



PERSONALITY:

Harvey's personality is rather misleading. He can appear to be feeling one thing, when he's feeling something very different. Most often he appears to be euphoric. This is due to his inability to express himself properly coupled with his acting abilities. As a result, it's difficult to tell what he's really thinking or feeling. This tendency to conceal his emotions is a very prominent weakness of his, as those that affect him more gradually build up, especially the negative ones. A benefit of this, however, is that his joy is frequently contagious. Whenever he manages to make others happier, it helps him to maintain his own happiness.

While it's commonly said that most men will always be children at heart, Harvey is definitely an exaggerated example. He rarely acts his age, and when he does, it comes as a surprise to most. He frequently turns situations into games, even when it's not appropriate, and refuses to see them as anything but. More often than not, he labels people that refuse to play along as "party poopers" and presses them to convince them to enjoy the "game". This continues until he gets bored or the other person leaves.

Despite the fact that he seems to be oblivious to other people's feelings, he can pick up on them fairly well. It's a good thing that he chooses to use this positively instead of antagonizing others (unless he deems it necessary) and employs his charisma and infectious playful nature to cheer others up. He has sometimes called himself "Hearty Harvey" due to his big heart. Of course, when he can't help, he can end up doubting himself. Luckily this doesn't last long, and he is able to let go of whatever situation wasn't working out the way he had intended. He responds rather pleasant when others antagonize him, usually, so most attempts at insulting him don't end the way that they are expected to.

When things do become overwhelming, Harvey grows very agitated and can't function properly. If he's unable to find a proper outlet, he is eventually forced to release the built up tension through means that can cause him to appear insane, especially since he rarely grows attached to any one person enough to talk to them about how he feels about certain issues. He's been known to talk to himself while sitting in fetal position, whether it's under a tree, table, or even in a back alley. When this happens, he tends to avoid contact with anyone until he's calmed down.



HISTORY:

When Harvey was born, his father had just begun to involve himself in the wonders of Pokemon, which to him mostly meant battling. As such, by the time he was 10 years old, he'd seen all kinds of battles that his father had taken part in. Pokemon type advantages and disadvantages, creative uses for moves, the works. A lot of that knowledge gradually faded away when he grew distant, however. Since he lacked a mother, the time he spent watching his father battle meant a lot to him. As a result, he aimed to become a Pokemon trainer - when he was ready. His preoccupation with his parent's passion kept him mostly separated from other children, but he always had an amazing feeling watching his father smile the way he did when he was having a good time. This was the seed of his need to make others smile - the satisfaction of knowing that someone is able to smile, and a genuine smile, not a forced one.

His father, however, was too preoccupied with his battling to pay as much attention to Harvey as he should have. Now, Harvey didn't feel neglected at all; He was proud of his father's gusto (since the man wasn't really the best of trainers), and wanted to be able to support him. They went through a few periods of time where money had grown tight because his father hadn't won enough battles and lost a few too many, and Harvey began doing street performances when he wasn't cheering his parent on from the sidelines. He wasn't successful at first - it was something completely new to him - but he found that it was quite enjoyable.

Harvey's skill dramatically improved over the years, and as a result, by age 15, he had become a great source of income for himself and his father. Hopeful young Harvey thought that with this new sense of financial security, he might be able to help his father get better at Pokemon battles by finding some sort of tutor. It was an idea all his own, and his father knew nothing of it. Of course, he knew that if he was going to try and find someone, he would have to become a trainer himself. He had delayed it for so long that he felt he was behind most of his peers, whom he'd never had any real connection with anyway.

After saving up his money, he finally began his trainerdom at 21. He took all of what he had saved up for a tutor he had yet to encounter into a cloth pouch, shoved it into his backpack, and hit the road. With the help of his father, he managed to capture his very first Pokemon - a Sandile, which he named Nala, after his late mother, whose name he'd only heard from Mr. Aegis. The only knowledge he had of his mother came from photos and his father's stories - she had passed due to illness when he was very young, but he was too young to realize what was happening or to remember it.

To commemorate his son's start as a trainer, Mr. Aegis presented Harvey with his second Pokemon. He had said that it reminded him of Harvey, and as a result he wanted him to take care of the creature. Named Bo-Bo (the reasons for which are unknown), the Scraggy quickly bonded with Harvey. He was now a trainer, ready to embark on his journey, which he knew would be full of bumps, but enjoyable ones.

Nothing seems to be wrong with your application, though before I approve you, I'd like to ask you if you want your pokemon to also know one egg move each, so long as it's got less than 70 base power. This is of course non-mandatory, you're free to have the moveset your pokemon have at the moment, but the option's available to you. Just so I know that you're either happy with the movesets as they are right now, or if you want to change them; as you can't get breeding moves later on, now is the time to get them.
